The UNDER the WINGS art series, begun 1991, portrays murdered victims of the Nazis and Fascists in Europe, 1930’s to 1945.

In the Under the Wings gallery, each artwork has a catalog prefix of UTW: UTW 1, UTW 2, UTW 46, etc. As of June 2019 there are 67 completed artworks in the series, including ten monumental mosaic-drawing combos. UTW 40 and UTW 41, are in-progress; when they are completed the series will have 69 completed works. More works are planned. Many of the victims portrayed in the wings series artworks are drawn with metaphoric bird wings. The artworks were designed to be accessible for teaching, to all ages including young children.

Everyone portrayed in the wings series was an actual person. With one exception, a woman Warsaw ghetto prisoner depicted in UTW 17, everyone portrayed perished; was murdered. Source photos have included family, book, archival, government photos.
