Esther Gastwirth
A Holocaust survivor, born in Vilna (aka Vilnius), Poland, in 1923, I met her in the early 1990's in Century Village, a retirement community in West Palm Beach, where my folks were residing. (Between 1920 and the start of WWII, Vilna was part of Poland. It is now in Lithuania).
During one of my visits to see my parents she came over to my folks apartment; I showed her several original Under the Wings of G-d art series drawings I had brought with me.
She inscribed a copy of her book, Determination, Courage, Destiny (see photos). Her book includes autobiographic poetry and transcriptions of other survivors narratives. ISBN 0-90622584-2-3, paperback; Library of Congress Catalog Card No. 92-30855
Another book she penned, I Am A Witness (published 2000) is listed in the online archives, USHMM website.

On December 27, 1944, they were given to Esther by a friend, while they were slave laborer prisoners at the AEG Factory, Kaiserwald concentration camp, Riga, Latvia. Your program at our school was educational and enlightening to the staff as well as the students. Your made everyone aware of how Art needs to be viewed and interpreted.
We find that no matter how we deal with the subject of the Holocaust, it is a painful one. Thank you so much for your presentation. We would recommend it to any and all schools, religious or public.
